Puerto Carrillo or Playa Carrillo is a small coastal town that belongs to the province of Guanacaste on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is the third district of the canton of Hojancha and is located about 5 km from Sámara Beach. In Puerto Carrillo there is an airstrip known as Playa Carrillo Airport (IATA: RIK, ICAO: MRCR) made of ballast, to which arrive small commercial planes and also on its coast is a port for small yachts.
The place is considered as a tourist destination nationally and internationally and has different hotels, restaurants and bars, as well as tour ingene, diving, fishing, rental cars and others.
Its territorial extension is 75.9 km2 and its population, according to the 2011 census, is 1574 inhabitants.
