Heredia
Heredia is a city in Costa Rica located about 10 km northwest of San José. It is the capital of the central canton and of the province of the same name.
In 2011 it had a population of around 34,215 inhabitants (Not taking into account the surrounding districts of Ulloa, San Francisco and Mercedes). The city of Las Flores is the coffee capital of Costa Rica, producing the Costa Rican Gold bean. The city of Heredia becomes the center of the economic activity of the canton and of the province in general, this added to the growing commerce of the city has reduced the housing space, for which it has some "satellite" districts such as: Mercedes, Ulloa and San Francisco.
All this population together, becomes around 118,470 almost quadruple. Even the cantons of the Barva, Santo Domingo, San Rafael, San Pablo, Flores, Belén, Santa Bárbara and San Isidro provinces serve as suburbs; forming the Heredia Metropolitan Area.
